Director of Music/First United Methodist Church Richardson

Caitlin Molechat serves as Director of Music at First United Methodist Church of Richardson where she conducts the FUMCR Chancel Choir and oversees the church’s music ministry. Her music career includes work as a choral director, soprano soloist, and professional choral singer in the Dallas area for 24 years.

Caitlin also at present sings with the professional choir Orpheus Chamber Singers where she is an assistant conductor. She launched the Educational Outreach program for Orpheus. In January, she will perform with Orpheus for a special production by BBC 3 (that will air in the United Kingdom) as a part of the USA’s 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Other professional endeavors include founding the all-women’s choir Project Eve (and serving as Artistic Director and singer); and performing with Texas Choral Artists, Dallas Bach Society, Collegium Early Music Singers, Dallas Chamber Choir, and Highland Park Chorale, among others.

Caitlin graduated summa cum laude with an Master’s of Music degree in Choral Conducting and a Bachelor’s of Music degree in Music Education with a concentration in Vocal Performance from the University of North Texas. At UNT she studied with Dr. Jerry McCoy, Dr. Lyle Nordstrom, and Mr. Hal Gibbons and served as Associate Conductor of the UNT A Cappella Choir. She has done post-graduate self study in England, Germany, and the Netherlands. Also while in Europe she directed Concerto Cherise, a semi-professional chamber choir in Utrecht, The Netherlands.

She has taught secondary choral music, has worked as the Associate Director of Music and Arts in Dallas Methodist churches for many years, and is a sought-after clinician for high schools and middle schools. She recently received the inaugural Choral Excellence in Worship Award from the Texas Choral Directors Association. She is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, Texas Choral Directors Association, Texas Music Educators Association, Dallas Choristers Guild, and The Church Music Institute.

She currently lives in Dallas with her husband, Rex, and three children, Madeline, Juliette, and Knox.
