Michael Lightfoot
Director of Music/First United Methodist Church Richardson
Michael Lightfoot is in his 24th year as Director of Music at First United Methodist Church Richardson. Michael and his wife, Mary, came to Richardson from College Station, Texas where they served together on the staff of A&M United Methodist Church.
Born in Odessa, Texas, Michael is a 1982 graduate of West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas (Bachelor of Music Education), and a 1995 graduate of Southern Methodist University (Master of Sacred Music). He has directed music for over 43 years.
During his time in Richardson, his choir has performed in concert with many diverse groups and artists, including The Vienna Boys Choir, The Texas Boys Choir, One O’Clock Lab Band (Jazz) from The University of North Texas, Skyland, The Getty’s, Wayne Watson, Sandi Patty, The Gatlin Brothers, and several times with The Richardson Symphony Orchestra. This is the choir’s second time performing in The Eisemann Center.
Mr. Lightfoot’s Chancel Choir has sung under the direction of several guest composers, including Sir John Rutter, director of The Cambridge Singers in England, and Mack Wilberg, director of The Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Over the past twenty four years this choir has sung in many United Methodist conferences in the Dallas area, and in cathedrals across Europe, including venues in Italy, Ireland, Wales, England, Scotland, Germany, Austria, The Czech Republic, Spain, Portugal, and Canada.
Michael and Mary live in Richardson with their black and white cat, Oreo.
