February 12, 2025 – Richardson, TX – The Richardson Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Clay Couturiaux, invites audiences to experience an extraordinary night of music on March 1st, 7:30 pm at the Eisemann Center for Performing Arts in Richardson at the “Stars of the Future” concert. This highly anticipated concert will feature Edward Elgar’s beloved Enigma Variations and Johannes Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2, performed by the 2025 Ann & Charles Eisemann International Young Artist Competition winner, Daria Podorozhnova.
Elgar’s Enigma Variations, Op. 36 is a collection of fourteen musical portraits, each inspired by and dedicated to friends, family, and even a cherished dog named Dan. However, what makes this masterpiece truly intriguing is the “enigma” Elgar embedded within the music—a hidden theme that has fueled over a century of speculation and fascination. Enigma Variations invites listeners on an emotional journey, celebrating the bonds of friendship, the beauty of memory, and the universal language of music.
As the final piece of the evening, pianist Daria Podorozhnova will take the stage to perform Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 83—a work of immense beauty and technical brilliance. Known for its grandeur and deeply expressive melodies, this concerto balances symphonic power with the piano’s lyrical voice. Speaking about the upcoming performance, Daria shared:
“Brahms’ Concerto No. 2 is a majestic masterpiece that reaches out for the stars with its beauty. I’m immensely happy to share the stage with the Richardson Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Clay Couturiaux and create some magic on March 1st!”
21-year-old Daria Podorozhnova was born in Rostov-on-Don, Russia and has been a student at Manhattan School of Music since September of 2022. For tickets and more information, visit richardsonsymphony.org or call 972.744.4650.
